Recap For the Year: My Books….”Seven”

“Seven By Jay: Seven Short Stories”, published in 2007, Was my first published book. I had finished collecting all the stories (seven, as the title claims) that spanned from 1992 to 2004. Two were rewrites, and the first entry was the first of two shorts that had been submitted to an “agent” who did absolutely nothing with them and cost me $400+ to start work with.

  1. I’ve been wanting to put together of short stories and a book of poetry for some time now. I just have to keep writing to even make my dream come true. What I want to know is, roughly, how long does a book of poetry or a book of short stories supposed to be?

    1. a book of poetry can basically be anywhere from 10-20 poems (or more, depending on the size you desire). most I have reviewed are only about 10 poems. depending on the length of stories, you can publish anywhere between seven and 15 safely as a single book (if you want paperback version, try for less than 20 stories, if you want a relatively inexpensive book). If you self publish, you can publish individual short stories (which I plan to do as soon as I can find an artist)in e-book form.
